Stress, Anxiety & Burnout
Helping you restore calm & reclaim your resilience
You may have arrived here because…
You feel under constant pressure from responsibility (e.g. work, or caring) and feel unable to cope with or refuse these demands.
You might feel disconnected from family, friends and co-workers or easily irritated by those closest to you.
You might be experiencing physical symptoms like exhaustion, stomach aches, headaches, and sleep problems.
You may have racing thoughts, negative thinking, or feel disconnected from reality, like you’re just a robot and not really present.
Perhaps you’ve developed unhealthy ways of coping with stress like overeating or drinking too much.
Whatever your reason for being here, I’m glad that you found me. Please read on for more detail about my stress, anxiety & burnout services.
Too much stress can overwhelm you.
We all experience stress and usually accept it as part of normal adult life. Short-term stress and anxiety is even helpful, motivating you to complete challenges.
Stress and anxiety is also part of our natural survival system. But big pressures or responsibility can trigger it, making us feel scared and overwhelmed.
If you experience stress and anxiety consistently, it’s hard to ‘come down’ from it, overwhelming your normal resilience.
Burnout indicates high levels of stress and anxiety associated with high pressure work environments and other reasons e.g. poor work-life balance, big life changes, people pleasing, or history.
If this is you; you need to make sense of your experience, and have strategies to help you process and overcome it.
I help you to restore your natural resilience.
I can work with you, using EMDR therapy, to identify the root causes of your stress, anxiety, and burnout, and help you to process difficult emotions and experiences, reducing their intensity and impact.
By working through stressors, I’ll help you to reframe negative beliefs, such as feeling incapable or overwhelmed, into more positive and adaptive ones. Reducing your emotional reactivity, will make it easier to respond to challenges with a renewed sense of calm and control.
By helping you to develop healthier ways of coping with stress, better control of emotions, and alleviating the physical signs of stress, I can help you to bring about lasting change and prevent future burnout.
My experience with stress, anxiety & burnout
My previous career was demanding in many ways including the expectation of performance at a high level. For this reason, I have a special interest in stress, anxiety and burnout that originates at work.
I spent 14 years as a university academic, responsible for course leadership, and achieving high standards in teaching and research. I know what it’s like to experience targets, high levels of pressure, stress and burnout. As well as other issues that often accompany a toxic workplace, like bullying.
By infusing my clinical therapy training with my own experiences of stress and burnout, I can more fully see your experience and guide you through your recovery.
